Casio India has launched the G-Shock 2500 series, a new line of analog watches priced from ₹9,995 to ₹26,995. The range comes in two families: the GAC-2500, made entirely of resin, and the GMC-2500, which adds a metal bezel and, on some versions, a stainless steel band. Casio also announced the series in Japan and the UK on 22 October.

The G-Shock 2500 borrows its shape from the DW-5000C, the original square G-Shock from 1983, but softens the edges into rounder contours and uses a fully analog dial. A small seconds dial sits at 9 o’clock. At 3 o’clock, a three-cell window shows the date, stopwatch time and settings, and the calendar adjusts on its own for short months and leap years.

Why it matters

G-Shock has long been the default tough watch for people who want something that survives travel, sport and everyday knocks without a charger. The 2500 series keeps that idea. It is shock resistant, water resistant to 200 metres (20 bar), and runs on a standard battery rated for about two years, so there is nothing to charge each night. It also has an LED backlight and a stopwatch.

Casio has not yet published prices for each model in India. In the UK, the resin models cost £110 and the metal-bezel versions £230 to £300, which gives a sense of how the Indian range is likely to split.

What you can do

  • Check per-model prices on Casio India’s store and authorised retailers before buying, since only the price range has been announced.
  • Choose resin if you want the lightest, most rugged option for sport and travel. Choose a metal bezel if you also want it to work with office wear.
  • Casio’s announcement lists no Bluetooth or solar charging, so treat this as a classic analog watch rather than a smartwatch.
