What the touchscreen MacBook Pro price in India buys you
All four models share the same big change. The display is a tandem OLED panel that Apple calls PROLED XDR, and it responds to touch. It is the first time a Mac laptop has had a touchscreen.
The design also brings back the glowing Apple logo on the lid. In addition, the laptop gets a Dynamic Island at the top of the screen, and Apple has adapted macOS for touch. For the full story of what changed, read our report on Apple’s first touchscreen MacBook Pro.
M5 Pro or M5 Max: which one costs what
The chip is the main reason for the price gap. The M5 Pro models start at ₹3,49,900 and ₹4,09,900. Meanwhile, the M5 Max models start at ₹5,49,900 and ₹5,89,900, which is roughly ₹2 lakh more for the same screen size.
Apple positions the Max chips for the heaviest video, 3D and AI work. So if you mostly write, browse and edit photos, the Pro chip is the sensible place to start.
Offers and when you can buy
Pre-orders opened on 28 October, and sales begin on Friday, 6 November. However, some Indian listings show deliveries from 9 November, so confirm your delivery date on Apple’s India store at checkout.
Apple is also offering up to six months of No Cost EMI. In addition, selected Mac models carry up to ₹15,000 instant cashback on eligible cards. The cashback depends on both the card and the configuration, so check it before you pay. Students and teachers can also look at our guide to Apple education pricing in India.
Is it worth the price?
Touch on a Mac is new, so there are no long term reviews yet. Apple’s claims about speed and battery life, including up to 24 hours, are the company’s own figures. As a result, it may be wiser to wait for independent tests before spending more than ₹3 lakh.
If budget matters, Apple also launched a 14 inch MacBook Pro with the new M6 chip from ₹2,39,900. You can see its prices in our MacBook Pro M6 price guide.
