The 1 November rule changes arrive on Sunday, and a few of them can touch your kitchen, your pension and your bank account. Some are confirmed, while others are only likely. This guide separates the two so you know what to do first.
Quick answer
- LPG: prices are usually revised on the 1st, but the domestic 14.2 kg cylinder is expected to stay the same.
- Pension: life certificates can be submitted from 1 to 30 November.
- ITR: some taxpayer categories get time until 21 November for AY 2026-27.
- Banking: IndusInd Bank adds small charges on certain savings accounts.
LPG and PNG prices
Oil marketing companies usually revise gas prices at the start of each month. According to Goodreturns, a change in the commercial 19 kg cylinder is more likely than a change in the domestic one. The domestic 14.2 kg cylinder was last revised on 7 June 2026, and it is expected to stay put.
However, this is an expectation and not an announcement. So check your gas company’s app or booking page on Sunday before you plan around a number.
Pension life certificate
Pensioners under 80 can submit their life certificate from 1 to 30 November. Pensioners aged 80 and above began on 1 October, and their last date is also 30 November. In short, there is a full month, but a missed certificate can stop pension payments.
ITR deadline extension
The CBDT has moved the due date for certain taxpayer categories for Assessment Year 2026-27 from 31 October to 21 November, as reported by Patrika. The extension does not apply to everyone. Therefore, read the official notification before you assume you have extra time.
Bank and card charges
IndusInd Bank is adding small charges on some savings accounts, including Indus Delite and the Indie Star, Superstar and Megastar variants. A POS transaction declined for low balance will cost Rs 25. A failed ATM transaction at an IndusInd ATM for low balance will also cost Rs 25. A cheque bounced for a non financial reason will cost Rs 50.
Punjab National Bank is also revising charges on its Visa and RuPay credit cards. These cover utility bill payments, reward redemption, failed auto debits, cheque returns, late payment and cash withdrawals. The report did not list the new amounts, so look at the bank’s latest charge list.
GST changes for businesses
Amendments to the CGST Act also take effect. They cover post sale discounts and credit notes, and refunds for inverted duty structures. These mostly matter to traders and small businesses, so ask your accountant if they apply to you.
Why the 1 November rule changes matter
Most of these items are small. Still, together they can cost you a missed pension payment, a bounced cheque fee or a late tax filing. Because of that, a five minute check this weekend is worth it.
